NDIS / Funding
COVID-19 Update for NDIS Funding
Telehealth is permitted under the NDIS.
In addition, there have been some changes to ensure essential services, such as Speech Pathology, are able to continue without disruption due to the COVID-19 crisis. Please see the NDIS website for more information about this (below).
NDIS Funding (National Disability Insurance Scheme)
We welcome children who have NDIS funding for Speech Pathology here at Buzzwords Speech Pathology.
Some children have access to NDIS funding for Speech Pathology Services. Buzzwords Speech Pathology provides services to children (birth to 18 years) who have NDIS funding that is Self-Managed or Plan Managed. This includes children who need to access early intervention (0-7 years).
The fees for services are set by the NDIS and their price list be found on their website (below).
Please call us on 0499 150 333 to book your child’s appointment!
NDIS Funding Options
NDIS participants can choose how to manage their funding. Your options are:
- You! (i.e. Self Managed).
- NDIA Managed.
- Third Party Plan Managed.
You can change how to manage your child’s funding by contacting the NDIS.
Early Intervention (0 to 7 years of age):
We are able to see your child for early intervention, using his/her NDIS funding, if you are self managing your child’s funding or if you are using a third party plan manager.
Please see the NDIS Website for more details about your funding.
Some children with specific conditions and permanent impairments will qualify for NDIS early intervention without additional assessments required (e.g. hearing impairment). Further information about this can be found on the NDIS Website (below).
Medicare, Private Health Funds
There is no need to wait for a GP referral if you are concerned about your child’s communication. A referral is not required to access Speech Pathology services, so please feel free to call us to book in on 0499 150 333.
Our Speech Pathologists are registered with Medicare and you may be able to access rebates under the Chronic Disease Management Plan (item number 10970) if provided by your GP. The current rebate (July 1, 2020) per session is $54.60. The plan runs per calendar year and there are up to 5 rebates available per plan.
Note: There are specific criteria for access to this medicare rebate. Your GP will be able to tell you if your child is eligible.
There are other Medicare Rebates available through your child’s paediatrician.
Most health funds provide rebates for Speech Pathology so check with your health fund to confirm your level of coverage.
